Plant Maintenance Engineer (Print Packaging)
The Plant Maintenance Engineer (Print Packaging) will manage the processes and activities for maintaining all plant machinery, equipment and other physical assets to ensure safe, continual and efficient operation, and will carry out or arrange for repairs when needed.
The Plant Maintenance Engineer will report to the Engineering Team Lead and they will work together in ensuring all plant machinery are maintained to a high standard and are repaired in a prompt manner, while tracking expenses and coordinating with external vendors.
The role is full time site based in Unit 8, Airways Industrial Estate, Constellation Road, Dublin 17 but travel may be required occasionally for external training or FAT.
- Put safety first at all times, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Reporting of all hazards or issues identified immediately to Engineering Team Lead or in her/his absence: 1. Facilities Manager 2. Facilities Coordinator 3. HSE Manager.
- Inspect and troubleshoot plant machinery and systems (e.g. extractor or compressor system).
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs for mechanical equipment and plant including maintenance and repair of production machinery, plant mechanical infrastructure etc.
- Perform or oversee safe maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing damaged plant equipment, installing pneumatic lines etc.
- Completion of production machinery maintenance schedules assigned by department.
- Support general Facilities Maintenance team in medium or high risk maintenance activities.
- Installation of mechanical safety systems, support of safety programmes.
- Collaborate with contractors and other professionals during construction works on site.
- Reporting energy waste and identification of energy saving opportunities.
- Support and training of Junior Plant Maintenance Engineers / Apprentices.
- Participating in internal programmes such as STEP Board, 5s etc.
- Completion of internal or external training as directed by Facilities Manager or HSE Manager.
- Flexible working approach to meet the sites operational requirements.
- Other duties related to role as assigned by Facilities Manager or Engineering Team Lead.
Required skills & competencies;
- Awareness of H&S policy and practice.
- Trade qualified.
- Experience of maintenance engineering in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Adaptable – possesses the ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to develop effective relationships with Maintenance / Facilities team and contractors.
- Active learner and a self-starter.
Desired skills & competencies;
- Computer literate with CMMS experience.
- Working knowledge of electrical fault-finding techniques.
- An understanding of basic technical aspects of property (Air-conditioning, plumbing, electrical etc.).
- Personal commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives.
- Experience of similar process machinery.
- Experience of quality issues.
