Pre-Press Manager Vacancy

The Role (Description & Key responsibilities)

We are only looking for candidates from the packaging industry, a Repro Manager with high management skills and high knowledge of the Repro department.

To be successful in this role it is ESSENTIAL you have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role within the PACKAGING GRAPHICS industry.

 You will be accountable for will include but are not restricted to:

Managing the Pre Press Department 

Work closely with the planning department

Follow product launches

Packaging and artwork management

Copy writing / artwork / repro co-ordination

Responsible for the co-ordination of pre-artwork meetings with the client

Liaising with design agencies, suppliers, printers etc.

Producing artwork for a wide variety of clients in the healthcare/retail/pharma

Checking artwork on a technical level

Using Adobe CS; Illustrator, In-design, Photoshop on a regular basis

Desired Skills and Experience

 You have (Essential)

Packaging experience and knowledge of C &C and braille testing processes

The ideal candidate will be confident with excellent communication skills

Ideally have client-facing experience

Will have some packaging experience or knowledge in a similar design to print sector such as artwork / prepress / repro / point of sales / brochures / catalogues

Must have solid project management skills and be able to manage busy artwork delivery

Experience of colour separation and technical print processes (you do not need to be a technical expert but be able to have some technical knowledge and input)

A good understanding of supply chain requirements and meeting a client’s expectations and KPI’s

Print, Packaging or Healthcare manufacturing experience

Being organised, driven, self-motivated and passionate is essential

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge as well as explicit attention to detail and a keen eye for colour.

Working within a team environment.

Willingness and flexibility to work in other departments as and when required.

    * Customer service/customer education

    * Production planning and evaluation

    * Film assembly/stripping (conventional)

    * Operation of output devices

    * Platemaking

    * Output troubleshooting

Technical Services

    * Technical systems design

    * Technical systems administration

    * Technical support

Manufacturing

    * Plan and direct workflow

    * Assign work to department personnel including electronic data processing and manipulation, typesetting (if applicable), design, pagination, imposition, camera and scanner operation, film assembly, stripping, and plate-making

   * Schedule full and part-time personnel hours including fair distribution of overtime

   * Oversee or participate in the scheduling for production

   * Able to back up various jobs in the department when emergencies or overload conditions develop

    * Set standards and measure results

    * Keep abreast of technology issues and trends

    * Review new software, hardware, and procedures to ensure efficiency

    * Recommend new equipment and processes

    * Design, implement, and lead transformational change and initiatives

    * Integrate new technology

    * Work with customer service and sales staff to resolve customer problems

    * Establish and maintain quality assurance

    * Manage inventory effectively

Leadership

    * Delegate tasks

    * Build a productive work team

    * Develop goals and objectives for pre-press team

    * Manage conflict

    * Resolve personnel grievances

    * Manage a growing workforce

    * Co-ordinate internal customer service

Training, Coaching, and Motivating Staff

    * Develop educational training programmes for Origination, CSR, and Sales Staff

    * Train staff to work with inter-related departments

    * Use employee involvement in teams, recognition, and rewards

    * Motivate and empower employees

Finance

Most Pre Press managers are responsible for a department budget, including recommending upgrades or investment in new equipment.
