Shift Manager

 

My client, a leading carton printing firm based in Dublin are seeking to hire a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the role of Shift Manager. A background in Printed Cartons is desired for this role.

 

Job Summary:

The role of the shift leader is to align the work of the operators on shift to the objectives of the Operations Manager.   Central to this is to lead, manage and motivate a shift to take responsibility for their own areas and ensure all activities are being carried out to a satisfactory level.  Key areas of responsibility include health & safety, people and performance management, quality, effective utilisation of manpower and deliver to customer requirements within budgeted costs and capability development. To enhance manufacturing performance through the introduction of lean manufacturing principles and develop and implement continuous improvement plans. To develop a flexible and competent multi skilled workforce within a 3 shift unionised operating environment. Scope of responsibility to include: Print, Cut & Crease, Glue, Quality and Internal Material Handling.

 

The Job:

Safety

·      Ensure all Safety Rules are Adhered to - PPE Compliance etc

·      Accident Investigation

·      Lead 5S Initiatives

·      Lead Housekeeping Audits

·      Define & Execute cleaning & housekeeping schedules

·      Audit & react to abnormalities

·      Participate in Risk Assessments

·      Ensure compliance to all Statutory regulations

 

Quality

·      Responsible for the Analyses of Quality performance data and corrective action implementation.

·      Responsible for the determination of root cause of consumer complaints and quality incidents and corrective action implementation. Responsible for effecting improvements to the quality system.

·      Implement plans to solve quality concerns or escalate

·      Identify and Implement Error proofing devices

·      Review data trends and implement corrective actions where required

 

Delivery

·      Check & Report Daily Schedule - Build to Plan

·      Analyse Delivery Performance

·      Develop Continuous Improvement Initiatives

·      Effective & Efficient Utilisation of the Workforce

·      Ensure Preventive Maintenance program is operational & executed as per schedule

Support the Production Manager & Stand in as and When Required. Any other duties that may be required by the Production Manager

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

·      At least 2 years operations management experience with direct responsibility for a cross functional team.

·      Experience of the implementation and management of Health & Safety & Environmental standards

·      Experience of implementation and management of Quality standards.

·      Experiencing of setting & working within budget

·      Experience of implementing lean manufacturing principles

·      An engineering degree ( Electrical / Mechanical / Manufacturing )

·      Ability to analyse data and interpret trends to identify root causes of failure and implement permanent corrective actions.

·      Ability to prepare and present reports to senior management

·      Communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation

·      Evidence of project management

·      Evidence of implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

·      Knowledge of production and maintenance techniques, tools and processes  and their implementation

·      Experience of People development and performance management

·      Computer Literate

 

Desirable:

·      Print , Cut & Crease and Glue manufacturing experience

·      An accredited management course to NVQ3

·      Management Qualification

·      Practical Problem Solving / Lean Principles

·      Experience of all aspects of production and maintenance in particular the use of TPM, Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and their implementation.

·      Performed succession planning / Advance Excel

Warehouse Management

Manage the storage and handling of products within the warehousing part of the supply chain. This can be a plant warehouse or a depot.

Evaluates data from sales and facilitates the formation of forecasts for production and delivery.

 

Infrastructure Planning And Strategic Modelling

Determine the optimum infrastructure evolution to meet present and future needs.

 

Capital Project Management

Implements plant, buildings and vehicle capital expenditure.

 

Capacity Planning

Plans use of available resources and people across a variety of factories or countries to optimise costs and quality.

 

Production Planning

Works with production planner to schedules day to day production to optimum efficiency interpreting sales demand and utilizing available production resources. Performance criteria are costs, quality and product availability

 

Cost Accounting

Evaluates total systems cost data, ensuring accuracy of reporting (ABC). Monitors progress against budgets and prior year. Advises effect of corrective actions.

 

People Management

Effective and efficient management of human resources in an Operations environment

 

Facilities management (maintain site standards, Hygiene, Housekeeping, GMP, GWP - 5S

 

HSE -Maintain a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work environment (Incident & Hazard Investigation, Environmental protection, waste management, Safety Inspection)
